Heathrow Reports Significant Progress In Passenger Growth

Heathrow reported its business and traffic commentary for June and warned that more flight cancellations may be possible.

Just what you want to hear for the summer…

The UK aviation sector has shown signs of recovery, with nearly 6 million passengers travelling through Heathrow in June. This totalled 25 million passengers for the first six months of the year and numbers over the last four months matched what took place over the last 40 years.

I wonder if all those passengers were able to board their flights…Anyway.

The airport also reported they started recruiting back in November in anticipation of capacity recovering for the summer, and by the end of July, they have as many people working in security as they had in pre-pandemic.

Heathrow also stated despite its best efforts to provide the best customer service, there have been periods where service levels “have not been acceptable. “

I am very proud of the way that our team is rising to the challenge of growth and giving excellent service to the vast majority of passengers,” commented Heathrow CEO John Holland-Kaye.

Kaye continued “However, we have already seen times recently when demand exceeds the capacity of the airport, airlines and ground handlers. “

In their words, the number one priority is giving passengers a safe and reliable journey. And, I think it is safe to say, reliability has wavered this year.

As you can see, interest in Heathrow Airport has made significant growth over the past 12 months. However, this may not all be positive interest, as flight cancellations, delays, and consistent troubles for the airport may have caused interest to surge.
